Upskilling and Training

At Amazon, we don’t just offer you a job—we can launch your career.

We believe that all employees have the potential to grow. It doesn't matter what background they come from or where they start out in Amazon. We know that talent comes in many forms. If people are good at what they do and want to learn new skills, we want to help them.

Our work environment allows almost anyone—regardless of background, skill level, or experience—to work and grow with confidence.

We’re proud to hire people with no formal qualifications and to help them gain the education and skills needed to further develop their careers.

We want to make it easy for people to have access to the skills they need to grow their careers. Through Career Choice, eligible employees are empowered to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. It offers to pre-pay 95% of tuition and reimburse employees for books and fees for nationally recognised courses; up to £8,000 over four years.

Skills training opportunities for employees
  • In 2014, Amazon launched its innovative Career Choice programme in the UK providing its operations employees with funding for adult education, offering to pre-pay 95% of tuition and reimbursement for eligible fees for nationally recognised courses – up to £8,000 over four years.

As of 2024, Amazon has invested more than £55 million to give its UK employees access to more than 20 different programmes to help them maximise their potential within the company or further afield. As of 2024, more than 18,500 Amazon employees in the UK have participated in Career Choice since the programme launched.
  • AWS Training and Certification equips learners with cloud computing education to build and validate in-demand cloud computing skills. Learners of various skill levels, roles, and backgrounds can build knowledge and practical skills using an extensive library of live classroom training and more than 600 free online courses. Since 2020, we've helped more than 21 million people get cloud skills training for free. We also help cultivate the next generation of cloud professionals through our Education Programmes, including AWS Academy, AWS Cloud Institute, AWS Educate, and AWS re/Start, providing cloud skills training and AWS Certification opportunities to individuals of diverse backgrounds who want to learn cloud or seek a career change.
  • Amazon’s fully-funded apprenticeship programme, from entry-level through to degree-level, provides an exciting path for future team leaders, engineers, and innovation drivers.
