Amazon has been named one of the most popular graduate employers by The Guardian in the paper’s prestigious Guardian 2016/2017 UK 300 survey, a list that ranks the UK’s top 300 employers, voted on by students and graduates. Amazon ranked fifth in this year’s survey, jumping two spots from last year. For the first time, Amazon is also ranked as the number one graduate employer in the retail category.
“Graduates play an important role at Amazon, helping us stay focused on customers, continually invent and think long term so we continue to improve our customer experience,” said Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon. “We value the contribution of our graduates, and we have a passion for helping them evolve over the course of their career. By creating a dynamic environment and encouraging a real sense of ownership, graduates are able to see the results of their work and the benefits it brings our customers.”
In the UK, we have hundreds of graduates in our Head Offices in London as well as across our UK Development Centres in Cambridge, Edinburgh and London, as well as in our fulfilment centres around the country and customer service centre. Graduates work in a range of areas including e-commerce, finance, creative production and software development.

“As a graduate at Amazon, I have had the opportunity to innovate on behalf of customers from the outset, and I have benefited from a tailored training programme, highlighting the different aspects of life at Amazon,” said Amber Woodward, a graduate member of the Books Management team. “Through the support of all members of my team, I have been able to take ownership of projects focusing on key business initiatives and presented to senior leadership as a result. My first year has been very rewarding, and I’m excited about what the future holds for me.”
Amazon works to foster those who have strong leadership potential, and helps provide resources they need to reach their goals. It is looking for students who have the ability to motivate, mentor, invent and engage, as well as those who will have ideas on how to improve the services we offer our customers and get excited about thinking big.
