The annual Bookseller Futurebook conference brings together leading thinkers in publishing, retail, editorial, marketing and tech. It is the largest annual digital publishing event in Europe. At this year’s conference in Bishopsgate, London, Amazon Publishing’s crime imprint, Thomas & Mercer, and the Kindle in Motion team were awarded the Book of the Year (adult) for Ripper: The Secret Life of Walter Sickert by Patricia Cornwell. Amazon had two titles in the running, the other being The Sky Below: A True Story of Summits, Space, and Speed by Scott Paranzynski.
Patricia Cornwell’s book is a classic example of true crime - an intriguing exposé of one of the most chilling cases of serial murder and the police investigation which failed to solve it. Emilie Marneur, Editor-in-Chief, Amazon Publishing UK, collected the award on behalf of the Kindle in Motion team. It was presented by academic and author, Dr Sue Black OBE.
