Keeping track of everything you want or need to buy can be tricky, especially when shopping for birthdays or holidays. Fortunately, Amazon’s Wish List tool makes it easy to stay organised and make sure you don’t miss out on the best deals throughout the year.
Read on to find out everything you need to know about setting up an Amazon Wish List.
Benefits of using Lists on Amazon
Whether it’s household accessories, must-have electronics or gifts for loved ones, Amazon Lists are a great way to keep track of the items you want most and even staying up to date with the deals you don’t want to miss.
Lists are a great way to stay organised and keep track of prices throughout the year: when the price of an item drops or a deal becomes available, you can choose to sign up for push notifications if you’re using the Amazon app.
When to create a Wish List
Lists are a great year-round tool to manage the products you want to buy throughout the year, but can be especially useful for Christmas gifts, birthdays and other special occasions when you may want to buy gifts for friends and family members.
They can also be used to share with loved ones: simply share your list with them at the touch a button. Each time a product on the list is purchased, it is automatically labelled, meaning you don’t accidentally end up with unwanted duplicates.
Lists are also a great way to keep track of your own shopping, not just gifts for others. Whether it’s redecorating your home, planning a big holiday, or even just cooking a dinner party and are missing a few key utensils, a new Amazon List can keep track of everything you want or need.
How to create an Amazon Wish List
Depending on the device you are using, there are multiple ways to create a new List.
On a browser, log into your Amazon account. In the header menu you should see a section titled “Account & Lists” at the top of the page. Hovering over that option will present a column titled “Your Lists”. From there, you can create a list.
If you’re using the Amazon app, click the icon with three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a category named “Your Stuff”. Within that section you’ll find “Your Lists” as an option. Once you open that page, you can see your existing Lists or create a new one using the plus button.
Another way to create a new List is from a product page. As you’re browsing items in Amazon’s store, you will find a drop down on the right side of your screen that says “Add to List.” You can choose an existing List you may have already created, or create a new one from there. You can also ask your Alexa device to create a new List.
How to name your Lists and edit your settings
Once you create a list using one of the methods above, you’ll be prompted to give it a name.
You can also manage each List’s settings. For example, you may decide whether to include a shipping address, or allow others with access to your Alexa devices to add new items.
You can also choose to keep purchased items on the list, or use the “Don’t spoil my surprises” feature, which means you won’t see which items have been purchased by others, unless you try to buy something that someone has already bought for you.
How to add items to your Wish List
While browsing through any product page in Amazon’s store, you should see the option to add the item to your Lists, located under the ‘add to basket’ and ‘buy now’ buttons. Alexa users can also add an item using their Alexa-enabled device.
When adding items to a List, users can also add comments and assign each item a priority level.
How to share your List
Your Lists will remain private until you’re ready to share them with others.
If you do want to share, you’ll see an “Invite” button at the top of your list and you can choose whether to let your invitee view and edit the list, or view only. You can then either copy the link and share through whichever app you prefer, or choose the “Email” or “Text Message” option.
