Changing your country or region on Amazon is a great way to browse and shop products from another Amazon store.
Amazon gives customers the option to manually select the country, language, and currency they prefer, with 22 locations to choose from.
If you have moved overseas, you’ll also need to transfer your account and any previously-purchased digital content to the location of your new home.
How do I change my country in the Amazon app?
To change your country in the Amazon app, go to your user tab. At the top right-hand corner, you’ll see the country flag of your current location.
Select the flag and you’ll be prompted to choose a new country/region, language, and currency.
The above steps will allow you to view and shop from another country’s Amazon site, but your account will remain linked to the original country.
How do I transfer my account to another country?
You will need to transfer your account to another country if you have moved overseas. To do this:
- Go to your user tab and select ‘Account’
- Scroll down and select ‘Content and Devices’
- Select ‘Preferences’
- Go to ‘Country/Region Settings’ and select ‘Change’
- Enter your details and select ‘Update’
- If you're eligible to buy digital content from another country, you’ll need to follow on-screen prompts to understand the implications of transferring your Amazon account.
Transferring your Amazon account to another country or region transfers your digital content to the new account. It also allows you to purchase content from the Kindle Store in your local currency.
If you create a new Amazon account instead of transferring the existing account, purchases won't be shared between the accounts. You’ll have separate login credentials for each account.
You can transfer your account to the previous country or region anytime as long as you have an active billing address for that country.
