We’ve all been there. You’re shopping online, click pay and then realise after that you need to cancel your order. Whether you’ve ordered the wrong item or simply changed your mind, cancelling an Amazon order is simpler than you think.
Luckily, if you decide quickly after ordering that you want to cancel, you may be able to cancel your order before it’s dispatched for delivery.
We’ve laid out an easy step-by-step guide, whether you’re trying to cancel an order using the Amazon Shopping app or with the Amazon UK website.
Cancel an order in the Amazon Shopping app
1. Open the Amazon Shopping app on your iOS or Android mobile device.
2. Tap the “Profile” icon on the menu at the bottom of the screen, then select “Your Orders”.
3. Find and select the order you want to cancel, and select “Cancel order” next to the chosen item.
4. To confirm your choice, tap “Cancel checked items” at the bottom of the screen.
You’ll receive email confirmation of your cancellation request to the email address linked to your Amazon account.
Cancel an order on the website
1. Visit amazon.co.uk and log in to your Amazon account.
2. Click on Returns & Orders.
3. Click the option to the right of your ordered item that says “Track package”.
4. On the next page, select “Cancel order” under “Order info”.
5. Finally, confirm your cancelled items by clicking “Cancel selected items in this order”.
A confirmation will show and an email confirming your order cancellation request will be sent to the email address linked to your Amazon account. If you have issues or questions while cancelling an order online, you can always contact Amazon customer service directly. Orders mistakenly cancelled cannot be reinstated, so make sure you are choosing to cancel with caution.
Why is my Amazon order cancellation denied?
Buyers have approximately thirty minutes to cancel an order after it has been placed. If your order has been shipped by Amazon it is too late to be cancelled. You can attempt a 'Request Cancellation' via the app or website for shipped items, refuse the delivery when it arrives, or return the package using our Online Return Centre.
If your order has been shipped directly by a seller and can’t be modified, you’ll need to contact the seller for instructions by visiting the Contact a Marketplace Seller page.
How do I cancel my order if it has already been delivered?
To cancel a delivered order from Amazon, you’ll need to follow the order returns process instead. Read about how the returns process works at Amazon here.
Why is there not an option to cancel my Amazon order?
If there's no option to cancel your Amazon order in the app or on the Amazon website, it's likely because the order has already entered the shipping process. Once an order reaches this stage, the cancel option may be disabled. You can still refuse the package upon delivery or return it once it arrives.
Can I cancel an Amazon order that has already shipped?
No, you cannot cancel an Amazon order once it has shipped. However, you can refuse the package upon delivery or initiate a return after receiving it.
