Just in time for Christmas, a new chocolate creation by small business H!P, Figs in Blankets, is now available exclusively on Amazon in support of The King’s Trust (formerly The Prince’s Trust). The brainchild of 27-year-old illustrator Louise Coutinho, the plant-based chocolate bar combines sweet figs with a salty vegan bacon seasoning and oat milk chocolate for a unique festive treat.
Figs in Blankets was submitted in a competition for the UK’s next chocolatier through a creative initiative by The King’s Trust and Amazon. Young people supported by the Trust were invited to invent unique flavour combinations for the festive season. All entries were judged by experts including celebrity chef, product inventor and Dragon’s Den star Levi Roots and H!P founder James Cadbury (the great- great- great- grandson of John Cadbury).
Louise drew inspiration from the Christmas favourite “pigs in blanket” for her entry. As part of her prize, she participated in the design process for the chocolate bar’s packaging. Her signature smiley illustration was chosen for the faces of the figs on H!P’s Figs in Blankets wrapper, a special addition to her art portfolio.
Louise Coutinho said: “It’s a dream come true; not only was my chocolate bar creation selected by the judges as the winner, but I also got to attend a design tutorial with the H!P team who decided to include my signature smiley face design on the packaging. I think it suits the figs perfectly!”
The whimsical Figs in Blankets bar is supporting the newly re-branded The King’s Trust (formerly The Prince’s Trust). Amazon is a Platinum Patron of The King’s Trust and a founding partner of the charity’s Strengthening Diversity Fund. Amazon has pledged £1 million to the fund over four years. There are 7,500 limited edition Figs in Blankets chocolate bars available for purchase, and Amazon will donate at least 15% of the purchase price of each one to The King’s Trust to support young people across the UK to unlock their potential and shape brighter futures.
