Delivery is getting even faster for Prime members as Amazon announces it is on track to deliver at its fastest speeds ever for Prime members globally in 2024, with more of our total items arriving the same or next day than ever before.
In the UK, Same-Day Delivery is available for millions of products in 81 towns and cities, with Aberdeen, Middlesbrough, and Plymouth the most recent additions. Prime members across the UK can enjoy free Same-Day deliveries on a wide selection of products, including items from Amazon brands and independent local businesses, with the number of items delivered Same-Day doubling since 2023.
We know Prime members love being able to order a huge range of products with fast delivery that they count on, and that’s why we’re continuing to innovate and invest to further accelerate delivery speeds across the country. For example, Amazon announced earlier this year that it is investing more than €700 million in robotics and AI-powered technology in its European fulfilment centre network between 2019 and the end of 2024 to enhance the customer and employee experience. The new technologies support employees in their roles, providing them with a safer work environment and upskilling opportunities. At the same time robotics and AI-powered innovation improve price, selection, and convenience for our customers, while also reducing packaging materials.

The latest order placed in the UK and delivered on the same day so far this year was to a customer in Leeds, who ordered silicone chocolate bar moulds and pistachio spread at 8:30pm, and had them before 10pm.
Same-Day is Amazon’s fastest delivery speed, allowing Prime members to shop millions of products and receive their order conveniently at home, or at a pickup location for no extra cost. To find items eligible for Same-Day Delivery, customers can look for items marked ‘Today by 7pm,’ ‘Today by 10pm,’ or ‘Tomorrow by 1pm’, depending on the time the order is placed, on product detail pages on both the Amazon app or website.
Developing more sustainable deliveries
