Our vision is for Alexa to be available whenever and wherever people want to interact with her – at home, at work, on the go, and everywhere in between. Not only are we focused on bringing Alexa to where our customers are, we are also dedicated to building delightful experiences that make customers’ lives easier, and enabling our developer community to do the same. We’ve been thrilled to see how people have responded by making Alexa a part of their daily lives. Customers have purchased more than 100 million Alexa-enabled devices, including devices built by third party manufacturers, and the number of customers interacting with Alexa daily doubled last year.
Alexa in more devices
In order to make our vision a reality, we work closely with device makers who want to embed Alexa into their products – this includes everything from headphones, to PCs, cars or smart home devices. There are now hundreds of devices with Alexa built-in. By providing more choice and flexibility, we believe we can make Alexa accessible to more customers in more places, and we know customers agree with this approach. Sales of third party devices with Alexa built-in in Germany and the UK have more than doubled year-over-year. This year at Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA), device makers like Lenovo, Sennheiser, Toshiba, Jabra and Deutsche Telekom are showcasing new products and solutions that feature Alexa.
A smarter home with Alexa
Customers tell us that they love how Alexa makes things easier throughout their home. We believe we’ve hit a tipping point in smart home adoption, driven by the simplicity of voice, and the rapid growth in smart home devices and capabilities. The number of Alexa-compatible smart home devices increased 6x in 2018, and today more than 60,000 smart home products can be controlled with Alexa, from more than 7,400 unique brands. In the EU there are now millions of smart home customers who are taking advantage of the convenience of Alexa. In fact, more than one in three new smart home customers, globally, comes from the EU. At IFA this year, you’ll be able to learn more about new Alexa and Dash Replenishment Service capabilities from major brands like LG, Philips, Onkyo, Simplehuman, Haier, Ezviz, Netatmo and more.
Alexa and Fire TV bring you more entertainment
We know customers love entertainment, and with Amazon Fire TV we are committed to making it easier and more intuitive for you to access the content you want. That’s why earlier this week we announced more than 20 new Fire TV products, the biggest international expansion for the device family yet. New products included an all-new Fire TV Cube, the first Fire TV Edition sound bar, and the world’s first Fire TV Edition smart TV with far-field voice control. This expanded lineup includes new collaborations with premium retailers like Dixons Carphone and MediaMarktSaturn and brands like Grundig, JVC, Anker, and ok. Head over to the live blog from the unveil event to learn more, or visit the Amazon booth at IFA.
Come visit us at IFA
Many of our partners are announcing new products and solutions at IFA, and many more will be showing off products released earlier this year. We’re excited to continue to support them at the show, and we’re thrilled to be able to show off all that Alexa and Fire TV can do in our own Amazon booth.
