We were delighted to hear today, that Katie George our EMEA Tech Campus Lead at Amazon, was included in the EMpower Top 50 Future Ethnic Minority Business Leaders List, run in partnership with the Financial Times
The EMpower List comprises 'the top 50 black, Asian and minority ethnic role models with most potential' and identified as future leaders by the EMpower judging panel. Founded in 2017, EMpower exists to challenge the lack of ethnic diversity within business, particularly at executive levels, and drive greater BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) inclusion at all levels of organisations.
Katie, who’s mixed race and was born in Swaziland, oversees our graduate recruitment across multiple Amazon businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Since joining Amazon, she has worked tirelessly to reach and recruit the leading diverse talent to Amazon, regularly going above and beyond, giving talks and workshops to inspire younger generations, including training young BAME people to change their mindsets by exposing them to positive role models.
“It’s really exciting to be recognised in the EMpower Future Leaders List,” said Katie after being honoured last night. “Amazon is passionately committed to making its workforce as diverse as possible - we have hundreds of millions of customers who benefit from diversity of thought - and we know that being diverse improves innovation, helps us anticipate diverse customer needs, enables creative problem solving and accesses all talent in increasingly competitive jobs markets.
