Amazon has released a new children’s book about teamwork that spotlights its fulfilment centre employees, partners and drivers, just in time for the festive season. Entitled Uncle Jay’s Dream Team, the story was developed in collaboration with and narrated by Spice Girl Emma Bunton. The story follows Avery, Mum and Uncle Jay as they explore the importance of teamwork required to deliver Amazon parcels and how it compares to the relatable teamwork that happens on Avery’s football team. The eBook is now available for anyone to download from the Amazon Kindle store and to listen to on Audible for free.
As a mum, I know how magical it is to buy something like a book on Amazon and how it appears on your doorstep so quickly after, so it feels so good that Amazon are celebrating the many people who make that process happen.
Amazon has partnered on the book with Spice Girl, Emma Bunton, who wrote the foreword and whose talent for storytelling brings the journey of a package to life as the narrator of the audiobook.
Emma Bunton said about the new book, “As a mum, I know how magical it is to buy something like a book on Amazon and how it appears on your doorstep so quickly after, so it feels so good that Amazon are celebrating the many people who make that process happen. As a business owner who sells my brand Kit & Kin, on Amazon, it’s been so interesting to get to know the process and understand all the people who are behind getting our parcels to parents all over the UK.”
Emma delighted employees at Amazon’s Tilbury fulfilment centre, as she visited the team to celebrate the book launch ahead of Christmas.
It was great to show Emma around our FC so she could meet first-hand the incredible people who delight our customers every day.
Yonatan Gal, VP of EU Operations at Amazon said, “This holiday season, we wanted to recognise the amazing work our employees do, collaborating with Emma to create the heart-warming tale of Uncle Jay’s Dream Team, which celebrates and honours our dream team of employees at Amazon. Much of our success comes from our employees who work together at our fulfilment centres who end up delighting children like Avery every day. And it was great to show Emma around our FC so she could meet first-hand the incredible people who delight our customers every day.”
Amazon is continually evolving its practices to ensure its workers can thrive. Schemes such as the Amazon Employee Assistance program, give employees the resources to create the right balance between home life and work life. Support available includes pregnancy and parental leave, adoption assistance and the ability to swap shifts and create custom schedules.
A key community that has been established to support parents is Families@Amazon which was established as one of Amazon's 13 Affinity Groups. Its purpose is to unite all Amazon caregivers and allies to share knowledge, foster career growth, and cultivate community connections among families, while advocating for policies that help make Amazon a great place to work.
The book is available as a free eBook here and will be available on Audible soon.
