Ahead of National Apprenticeship Week, Amazon has announced that it is creating more than 1,000 new apprenticeships in the UK in 2025.
Recruitment is now underway across more than 40 different programmes, including data science and cyber security, HR, marketing, engineering, health and safety, and warehouse operations.
The Amazon Apprenticeship programme is recognised as one of the UK's top apprenticeship schemes by the Government’s Department for Education and will offer a wide range of opportunities across the country in Amazon businesses including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Prime Video, and Amazon Devices and Services.
There are currently around 2,000 apprentices in the programme, making it one of the largest and broadest apprenticeship schemes in the UK.
The majority of courses now also include generative AI training, and this year, Amazon is also launching new programmes including creative industries production, data centre operations, and facilities operations.
Creating a role for everyone
The Edwards family from Doncaster shows how apprenticeships can appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds, with all four family members working in engineering roles across Amazon’s Doncaster, Leeds, and Wakefield fulfilment centres.
Chris, a former electrical apprentice, joined Amazon in 2021, inspiring his son James to start a mechatronics apprenticeship at Amazon the following aear.
"There are so many opportunities here. If you're willing to put in the effort, Amazon has tons of different paths you can take."
Seeing their enthusiasm, Chris's wife Sam, a stay-at-home mum for many years, took a bold step into a new career by becoming a mechatronics apprentice at Amazon in 2023, proving it's never too late to learn new skills.
The family tradition continued when their daughter Georgie joined the programme in 2024.
Empowering people to build their dream career
"The Amazon Apprenticeship programme is perfect for people of all ages who are either taking their first step on the career ladder, or for those who want to pursue a new path,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager at Amazon. “This is one of the many ways we continue to create opportunities for people inside and outside Amazon to learn new skills and gain new qualifications.”
For the second consecutive year, Amazon has been named among the top UK companies to work for by the Top Employers Institute. This certification is testament to the company's commitment to the development and well-being of employees across the UK, and also marks the third year Amazon has been recognised as one of the Top Employers in Europe.
