What to expect from the #EchoPopPopUp
Not sure what to expect today? The performances will be divided into two sessions; the morning session is from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and the afternoon session will be from 3:45 pm to 6:30 pm.
Our brand ambassadors will be handing out Echo Pop branded cake pops, flyers in the shape of the Echo Pop devices and holding different coloured unboxed devices to showcase to passers-by.
Just look out for them around the station in branded Alexa t-shirts!
The first performance is in 10 minutes so grab a coffee and hang around to see Mia Kirkland perform the first set of the morning.
Oh, and don’t forget to post any pictures and videos from today’s performances using the hashtag #EchoPopPopUp and tag @alexa99uk!
Mia Kirkland is the first performance!
Without further ado, it’s time for the first performance of the morning! TikTok sensation Mia Kirkland is being playfully cued in by our very own Alexa to sing a cover of All for You by Cian Ducrot.
You might know Mia Kirkland from the hit BBC Three show Project Icon judged by Jason Derulo, Becky Hill, and music mogul Frank Harris. You’ve probably also seen her amazing viral TikToks performing hit songs like Perfect by Ed Sheeran or Easy on Me by Adele in the York city centre.
This morning, she is also taking on popular songs like When we were young by Adele, Mirror by Madison Ryan Ward and even Driver’s License by Olivia Rodrigo. It’s hard not to sing along a little when those songs come on!
With another humorous cue from Alexa, Mia is now singing Space Man by Sam Ryder which earned the UK second place in Eurovision 2022.
Alongside Mia’s powerful voice, the excellent Echo Pop speakers are providing excellent backing tracks for each performance.
Just the way you are by Bruno Mars is up next so if you’ve ever wondered what they sound like coming from a giant Echo Pop – stay around Waterloo Station this morning.
If you like what you’ve heard, check out Mia’s TikTok @itsmiakirkland for more of her stunning live performances.
Echo Pop fun fact
As the next singer sets up for their performance, let’s share a fun fact about the new Echo Pop devices:
You can control music with your voice – simply ask Alexa to play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and more! You can also make any space a smart space by using your voice to easily control compatible smart home devices like plugs or lights.
If you want to know more about our Echo Pop devices, speak to one of our friendly ambassadors who are wearing an Alexa t-shirt.
Still around Waterloo Station and a fan of Lewis Capaldi? Stick around for the next performance which will be in five minutes.
Up next is Liam Alexander
“When life gives you lemons, sing Lemon Tree by Post Malone”. At least that's Alexa’s words of wisdom this morning and it seems to be working for Liam who has taken to the stage to perform an incredible version of the hit number.
Liam is an independent singer-songwriter who has been releasing original music for a couple of years now and I imagine it feels great to sing his original song – Falling to the growing crowd.
With a quick reminder from Alexa, the next song is the hit pop record Pointless by Lewis Capaldi. Pointless is one of my favourite songs by Lewis and while I’ve never had the chance to see him perform it live – I think this cover might be my favourite version of the song now.
Liam Alexander is very active on Instagram and TikTok @liamalexandermusic so if you love his fantastic covers, follow him to catch some of his live performances or listen to the original music he’s played this morning like Falling, Lifeline and his unreleased song Sail.
It's Emelie Hallett!
Time for the next performance, and Emelie Hallett is starting with the classic ballad Can’t Help Falling In Love by Hailey Reinhart.
Emelie has been busking since September 2020 and believes that street music brings everyone together.
It’s certainly doing so this morning and Emelie sounds amazing! Her take on the karaoke favourite Valerie by Amy Winehouse and the viral pop song You Broke Me First by Tate McRae is fantastic!
It’s cool to see Emelie use Alexa to start everyone’s favourite song Put your records On by Corrine Bailey Rae. Anyone can use the Echo Pop devices to play their favourite songs in their bedrooms, kitchens or any small spaces.
It’s safe to say that Emelie has great taste in music because the next songs are Price Tag by Jessie J, Remember by Becky Hill and David Guetta and Back to Black by Amy Winehouse.
Keep up with Emelie’s music and her busking journey on Tik Tok @emeliehallettmusic.
The last performance of the morning
Rising RnB star Kali Claire is our last performance of the morning session, and today is my lucky day because she is also singing Pointless by Lewis Capaldi. Kali sounds incredible and she’s quickly following up with Get You by Daniel Caesar and Kali Uchis and the smash hit Just Hold On We’re Going Home by Drake.
Kali has collaborated with well-known names from Alicia Keys to Not3s – you might recognise her voice on the backing vocals for his hit single My Lover.
Another seamless cue from Alexa and we’re treated to some of her original songs Before the World Ends, Seen Me Like This and Real Man.
See what Kali Claire is up to on Instagram @ _kaliclaire.
The end of the morning session
That’s it for the morning session. It’s been fantastic to listen to all the budding singer-songwriters and their versions of the hit songs of the last few years.
If you haven’t seen the Echo Pop in the flesh, speak to one of our brand ambassadors who have access to different coloured unboxed devices to show everyone.
I’ll be back around 3:30 pm for the afternoon session so if you’re around Waterloo Station, pop by to listen to original music and classic covers from Luke Silva, Liv Harland, SOLOMON, Kali Claire and our headliner Fleur East!
We're back for the afternoon session
I’m back for the afternoon session of live performances marking the launch of Amazon’s all-new Echo Pop devices. Just like this morning, each set will be roughly thirty minutes long and will feature lots of original music and covers of hit songs.
Come along if you need a quick serotonin hit, free snacks and a sneak peek at the new Echo Pop devices.
Don’t forget to share any videos and images from the session with the hashtag #EchoPopPopUp and tag @Alexa99uk.
The next performance is in a few minutes, and I think we have time for another Echo Pop fun fact!
All Echo Pop devices are built with multiple layers of protection and control – including a Microphone Off button that disconnects the microphones.
Luke Silva is here with original music
Luke Silva is starting with his newly released original song Belong to the City, which has made me a new fan.
He sounds wonderful and the crowd are loving his performance.
Alexa has just helped Luke pick out the next song and its good news for all Bruno Mars fans out there as its Locked Out Of Heaven.
Follow Luke @lukesilvamusic on TikTok for updates on his latest releases and the original music he played this afternoon like Out of My Head, Say Your Prayers and Waking Up Alone.
The most viral busker in the UK
Our next singer is an inspiration to aspiring musicians everywhere. Liv Harland started live streaming her busking sessions directly to TikTok in 2020, quickly grew a social media following and secured a record deal!
Known as “the most viral busker in the UK” (The Times), Liv's livestreams often attract an audience big enough to fill London’s O2. Expect to see a new song every few months from Liv @livharlandmusic on TikTok.
Liv is singing When I Look at You by Miley Cyrus which you all might remember from the romantic comedy The Last Song and she sounds excellent!
Listen to SOLOMON's exclusive unreleased songs
Making your way home through Waterloo Station after work? Please take a moment to unwind and enjoy our next performer, SOLOMON who is leading with his original single Dehydrate. The crowd today is in for a treat as SOLOMON is performing some of his new exclusive unreleased songs and they are fantastic.
SOLOMON is a singer-songwriter from London who began recording himself singing with his guitar in his bedroom.
With the help of Alexa, he has followed up with crowd favourites No Diggity by Blackstreet and High Hopes by Kodaline.
If like us you love what you’ve heard keep up with SOLOMON @solomonmusic on TikTok.
Our headliner Fleur East is here!!
Fans of X Factor will remember and love the next performer and headliner who is a staple on the radio and TV.
Alexa is helping Fleur East sing her hit single Count The Ways and she sounds brilliant!
While Fleur East is mesmerising us with her vocals, take the opportunity to speak to our ambassadors in the Alexa t-shirts to see the Echo Pops in an array of colours – the Lavender Bloom and the Midnight Teal are my favourites.
If you haven’t had the chance to, grab some flyers and some Echo Pop cake pops for your journey!
Fleur is closing us out with ‘Sax’ and the crowd just can’t help but dance - look at those moves!
That concludes the #EchoPopPopUp event today.
Thanks to our stars and everyone who has supported their performances throughout the day! And a massive thanks to those who have kept up to date with this live blog.
Let’s share one last Echo Pop fun fact of the day.
